Forestry Licence to Cut

A forestry licence to cut is a non-replaceable, small forest tenure that allows harvesting in a specific area over a short period of time. This form of licence is intended for a small area or volume to manage a specific need or purpose, such as the salvage of blow down or control the spread of insect and/or disease. 

A forestry licence to cut is not intended to provide an ongoing supply of timber nor is to be used like a timber sale licence to provide an ongoing stream of competitive harvesting opportunities.

A forestry licence to cut can grant harvesting rights for a number of purposes that cannot be addressed by larger licences or the timber sale licence program. A forestry licence to cut cannot be issued within an area based tenure.

Licence to Cut Applications

Natural Resource Districts have the responsibility to accept applications for issuance of a forestry licence to cut. If you require a forestry licence to cut, please contact your local Natural Resource District. Natural Resource Districts will need to look at various factors to determine if the application will be accepted and a forestry licence to cut can be issued.
