Licences to cut allow harvesting in a specific area over a short period of time and addresses the recovery of small volumes of timber for areas impacted by insect, disease, fire or wind. Licences to cut are issued under a competitive or direct award process and are non-replaceable.

Community Wildfire Fuel Reduction Licence to Cut

A forest licence to cut may be issued for fuel management in and around communities and infrastructure in accordance with community fuel management procedures under the BC Wildfire Service.  
An application may be submitted to the Natural Resource District if you are required to harvest timber in relation to a wildfire risk reduction fuel treatment on public lands. 

Residual Fibre Licence to Cuts

A fibre forestry licence to cut is a licence issued under the Forest Act. It's generally used for access to road and landing waste (residual fibre) not used by the individual or company that conducted the original harvesting. This can be issued under a Fibre Forestry Licence to Cut or a Fibre Supply Licence to Cut.

Forestry Licence to Cut

A forestry licence to cut is a non-replaceable, small forest tenure that allows harvesting in a specific area over a short period of time. This form of licence is mostly intended for a small area or volume to manage a specific need or purpose.  A small scale salvage licence is a specific type of forestry licence to cut that allows the harvest of up to 2,000 m3 in volume for dead and damaged timber. The Small Scale Salvage licences are managed through the province’s Natural Resource Districts via the Small Scale Salvage Program.

Occupant Licence to Cut and Oil & Gas Master Licence to Cut  

Occupant licences to cut are issued for the cutting, or cutting and removal, of Crown timber from Crown land or private land. In all cases, the applicant must hold a right to occupy and use the land being harvested through a ”right of occupation", a lease, or a special use permit.

An Oil and Gas Master Licence to Cut is issued by the British Columbia Energy Regulator for timber harvesting associated with oil and gas activities.
