Table Interpolation Program for Stand Yields (TIPSY) is a publicly distributed PC-based growth and yield program that provides user friendly access to managed stand yield tables generated by the Table and Stand Simulator (TASS) and Silviculture Impacts of Yield Value and Economic Return (SYLVER). TIPSY has been operating since 1991, and continues to be the primary vehicle for most operational applications of TASS in B.C.
The online video tutorial, Introduction to TIPSY 4.2, is also largely applicable to later versions.
TIPSY:
Yield tables are available for all 10 commercial tree species supported by TASS.
Like TASS, TIPSY provides managed stand yield tables for single-species, even-aged stands. TIPSY also provides mixed-species yield tables (without species dynamics) by using simple, area-weighted averaging of single-species yields. TIPSY functions primarily as a “bare ground” model like TASS. Inputs include:
Although TIPSY is less flexible than TASS, it still supports several silviculture treatments, including:
Three spatial distributions (planted, natural, clumped) and a broad range of initial densities (69 to 10,000+ stems/ha) are available.
