Overview
Recreation on Crown land is managed in two ways:
- Managing broader recreation resources (the provincial forest recreation resource)
- Managing specific recreation uses by providing safe, sanitary, socially acceptable and environmentally sound recreation sites and recreation trails for public use.
These recreation sites and trails are managed by Recreation Sites and Trails BC. These are public campgrounds and trails located on Crown land outside of parks and settled areas.
Priority question
"Are recreation sites and trails across British Columbia meeting baseline standards for facilities and maintenance, and able to provide safe, sanitary and environmentally sound recreation experiences?"
How recreation sites and trails are evaluated
Recreation sites and Trails B.C. staff evaluate whether the recreational objective of each site or trail is being met.
