Forest Service Road Conditions in the Sea to Sky District

All resource road users are advised to check local weather and safety advisories, drive to the condition of the road and watch for hazards if heading into the backcountry. Please report any unsafe issues in the district to the Sea to Sky Natural Resource District office 604-898-2100

Ashlu Branch 02

Birkenhead Lake FSR 5733

Blackwater Creek FSR 8354 (access to Birkenhead Lake)

  • Recommend 4WD, drive with caution
  • April 1 - June 15 annually: motor vehicle prohibition  Phelix Creek (PDF, 3MB)

Brandywine Creek FSR 8079 (access to Brandywine Meadows)

  • 4WD access only; seasonally deactivated
  • Access Brandywine FSR via the paved Callaghan Road

Britannia Creek FSR 8321 and Furry Creek FSR 8210

  • Gate closed; access not managed by ministry staff. For more information contact the Britannia Mine manager at 604-916-1101

Brohm Ridge FSR

  • Industrial use FSR 

Cheakamus River FSR 3077

  • Branch 01 (east side access to Cheakamus Lake)
    • Not plowed in winter
  • Branch 03 (west side access to Black Tusk)
    • 4WD access only
    • Gate locked at ~ 4km;  BC Parks has restricted motorized vehicle access past this point
  • Branch 09 (access to Jane Lakes)
    • Deactivated. Overgrown; not recommended for vehicles

Cheekye FSR 6527

  • Branch 02 - brown signage at the base of road says Brohm Ridge FSR, but the road is technically Cheekye FSR Branch 02
    • Travel on Branch 02 not recommended. Rough, exposed rock, steep sections with limited traction and limited opportunities to turn around. Suggest use of Branch 01, past Cat Lake instead, in order to reach Brohm Ridge
    • 4WD access only; seasonally deactivated
  • Branch 01 – access to and past Cat Lake
    • 4WD recommended, watch for industrial traffic (winter 2022 onwards), drive with caution
    • No vehicle access past last yellow gate at ~11km to prevent irreparable damage to the alpine by vehicular traffic; foot access only beyond last gate

  • December 1 - May 31 annually: non-motorized winter recreation zoning in the Ipsoot (Miller Creek/ Wasp) area. Access to the winter non-motorized recreation area will be restricted at the Innergex Renewable Energy Inc. gate crossing Miller Creek (approx. 2km) on the Pemberton Creek FSR

  • 4WD access only

Ring Creek North FSR 6782 

  • Branch 01 (Northside Connector)
    • 4WD recommended, active industrial traffic, drive with caution

Rutherford Creek FSR 5673 and Rutherford South FSR 10240

  • 4WD access only

Ryan River FSR 8015

  • Effective year round: motorized vehicle prohibition Ryan River (PDF, 8.3MB)
  • Road Permit Road accessing Ryan River FSR - gate closed and locked year round at 4km. No access to Ryan River FSR beyond the gate

Sloquet Creek FSR 6780

  • 4WD recommended, watch for industrial traffic, drive with caution
  • April 1 - June 15 annually: motor vehicle prohibition  Sloquet Creek (PDF, 4.1MB)

Soo River FSR 7910

  • Branch 01 (north) and Branch 02 (south) - Soo River
    • Recommend 4WD, drive with caution
  • Branch 03 - 16 Mile Creek / Cougar Mountain
    • Recommend 4WD, drive with caution

Squamish River FSR 9160 and Ashlu / Elaho 

Stawamus/Indian River FSR 4823

  • Active industrial operations, use caution.
  • 4WD access only; seasonally deactivated
  • Branch 01 (Stawamus/ Indian mainline)
    • August 30, 2024 - December 31, 2024: Road closed to all users at gate at 3km due to construction activities. Single lane alternating traffic 0 - 3km. Expect 20-30 minute delays. Traffic control personnel on site. Road also closed to all users at 34.5km (no access through Indian Arm). Expect further closures through 2026.

    • August 5, 2024 - December 31, 2024: Intermittent road closures 0 - 1.5km, Monday - Friday (except public holidays) 7:00am - 5:00pm for Sea to Sky Gondola powerline installation project. Expect delays. Check in with traffic control personnel at the start of the FSR for details.
  • Branch 02 (Shannon Branch to Stawamus Chief and Sea to Sky Gondola) 
    • August 5, 2024 - December 31, 2024: Intermittent road closures Monday - Friday (except public holidays) 7:00am - 5:00pm for Sea to Sky Gondola powerline installation project. Expect delays. Check in with traffic control personnel at the start of the FSR for details.
      • Inquiries regarding Branch 02 road activities should be directed to the Sea to Sky Gondola (Kirby Brown at (604) 892-2550 or email Rob Walter. After hours or emergencies: 604-892-2555).
    • Gate closure at 4.2km in effect; no road access beyond this point. Parking for a limited number of vehicles available at the 4.2km location
