VictimLink - Victim Information, Support and Referrals
Call VictimLinkBC at 1-800-563-0808 (free in B.C.) available 24 hours, 7 days a week or email VictimLinkBC@bc211.ca for assistance.
Financial Assistance for a Victim of Crime
Call the Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP) at 1-866-660-3888 (free in B.C.) or email CVAP@gov.bc.ca
- The CVAP provides financial assistance to victims of certain crimes, immediate family members and some witnesses. For more information, see: Financial Assistance (Victims)
Information about the Accused and Offender
Call the Victim Safety Unit (VSU) at 1-877-315-8822 (free anywhere in Canada) or email: VSUSG@gov.bc.ca.
- Victims of crime can ask for information about the person who was charged with the crime (accused) or convicted of the crime (offender) by calling the VSU
- Register by providing your name and contact information. VSU will update you with information such as what happened at court and whether the offender is in jail
- If the offender has been sent to jail for two years or more, they will be in a federal correctional centre (penitentiary). For information on victim notification, call the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC), Victim Services at 1-866-806-2275 (free in B.C. - when you are asked for the region, select 1 for Pacific Region) or email: victims-victimes@csc-scc.gc.ca
