Support services are available throughout B.C. to children and young people (under 19) who are victims of crime. This section provides phone numbers for children and young people to call if you need help and support. It also provides information about how to report when a child or young person needs protection.
Call the Helpline for Children at 310-1234 in B.C. (free of charge, no area code is needed). If you are calling from a pay phone, there is no charge to call the operator to have your call connected.
Call the Youth Against Violence Line (YAVL) at 1-800-680-4264 in B.C. (free of charge), 24 hours, 7 days a week. Deaf and hard of hearing callers: TTY 604 875-0885 (collect calls accepted) or text: 604 836-6381.

You have a legal obligation to report when a child or youth is being abused, neglected or put at risk and needs protection. You must report the matter to the Ministry of Children and Family Development.
