Human Trafficking Community Action Stories

This section of the toolkit includes stories about the actions people have taken to address human trafficking in their local community. It includes information about prevention projects and awareness raising efforts that worked to address issues at the local level. Many of the stories were drawn from OCTIP’s Train the Trainer workshops in local communities.  

We hope the stories will give you ideas for actions to take in your community!

OCTIP’s Train the Trainer workshop builds community capacity

OCTIP’s two-day Train the Trainer workshop builds capacity in local communities to address human trafficking, including steps to take to prevent it from occurring. OCTIP has presented the Train the Trainer workshop in several communities in British Columbia (e.g., Williams Lake, Prince George, Quesnel, the Saulteau First Nation (Chetwynd), the Nisga’a First Nation (New Aiyainsh), and Prince Rupert)—and worked with other communities to train service providers and community members to act on this issue.
