Summer Articles

The Legal Services Branch (LSB) typically hires between two to three students to “summer” with LSB after their second year of law school. Summer students are temporary articling students.
Similar to articling, summer students work with lawyers and professional staff in a variety of legal contexts. Unlike articling students, summer students do not rotate through different legal practice groups. They are primarily responsible for civil litigation and small claims civil litigation files. However, there are often opportunities to take on other litigation work, as well as work from other legal groups.
Summer students will have opportunities to work on a diverse range of files. Subject to successful performance, summer students with LSB will be offered positions as articling students starting in the spring or fall after completion of law school.
Recruitment for summer articles begins in the summer of the year prior to the term students will summer with LSB (e.g., summer 2025 recruitment for summer 2026 articles). Application forms and details about applying for summer articles has been posted below.
