If your property is located in a city, town, district or village, it is in a municipality. When you own property in a municipality, you'll receive your property tax notice from your municipality. You pay your property taxes to your municipal office.

If you live in a municipality with a population of 5,000 or less, you will pay provincial police tax. Otherwise, your municipality will contract directly with the province or maintain its own police force.
