Tax appeal process

September 6, 2024

As a result of Budget 2024, the Minister of Finance may decide to refer a matter back to the program branch that issued the original decision, to be reconsidered. Information about the reconsideration process has been added to the following bulletin and pages:

February 26, 2024

Information about what you can appeal for Employer Health Tax has been updated. Bulletin GEN 002, Appeals (PDF, 160KB) also reflects these changes.

February 22, 2024

The provincial government announced its 2024 Budget on February 22, 2024. Programs administered by the Tax Appeals and Litigation Branch are amended as a result. Learn more at B.C Provincial budget tax changes.

Fuel tax refund for persons with disabilities

September 12, 2024

Bulletin MFT 004, Fuel Tax Refund Program for Persons with Disabilities (PDF, 150KB) has been updated to remove incorrect information about vehicle registration documentation requirements in the Applying for a Refund section.

June 27, 2024

The following forms have been updated to standardize the certification statement:

January 22, 2024

FIN 472, Application for Refund of Provincial Fuel Tax For Persons With Disabilities (PDF, 340KB) and FIN 474, Application for Refund of Provincial Fuel Tax For Spouses of Persons With Disabilities (PDF, 400KB) have been updated to:

  • Clarify general information for the Fuel Tax Refund Program
  • Include further information about acceptable receipts
  • Note that Abbotsford and Mission are considered "Other Areas of B.C."
  • Reflect the years you may be eligible to claim a refund
