This project included the replacement of the Malakwa bridge and four-laning of 2.7 km of highway approximately 20 km east of Sicamous.
Scope of improvements:
- Replacement of the old steel through-truss bridge with a 98-metre eastbound and a 55-metre westbound bridge
- 2.7 km section widened to four lanes
- 2.6-metre paved centre median with concrete barrier
- 2.5-metre-wide paved shoulders
- Rumble strips
- 1.8 km of new frontage roads
- Two new protected T-intersections

Construction was completed in June 2016
