The Province ensures that all highway construction and maintenance work is carried out in an environmentally responsible manner. These environmental programs, specifications and best practices guide work on the highway system and ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations.

Programs

Environmental programs invest funds to restore, protect and improve environmental resources with direct benefits to the highway infrastructure, projects, safety, maintenance and operations. The Province works with partners, stakeholders and contractors to gather research, identify priorities and reduce the environmental impact of transportation infrastructure.
