A passenger transportation licence can be transferred from a one legal entity to another. A legal entity may be a person or sole proprietor, a partnership or a corporation.
The entity who is transferring the licence is called the “transferor”. The entity who is obtaining the licence is called the “transferee”. Both are involved in the application process.
If you are transferring a hybrid licence (both special and general authorization) complete an application for each one, but only one application fee is required, provided both transfer applications are filed at the same time.
The transferee must obtain a safety certificate in the legal name of the transferee, with a satisfactory rating, issued by a jurisdiction in North America before applying to transfer an existing passenger transportation licence.
If your application is approved, the transferee will submit the following vehicle documents
The Registrar of Passenger Transportation makes decisions on the transfer of general authorization licences.
Complete the following application and submit with payment.
The Passenger Transportation Board makes decisions on the transfer of special authorization licences.
Complete the following and submit with payment.
The application fee is non-refundable once an application has been accepted.
