Who can use the service?

Canadian Indigenous (First Nations [status or non-status], Métis or Inuit) applicants seeking work or already employed in the BC Public Service can receive personalized advice and guidance on the hiring process.

Applicants can receive personalized advice prior to applying. Please share the job posting link or six-digit number and deadline to the subject of your email or phone message (if applicable). For example, "109543 - June 1."

Please note: this service cannot accept or forward job applications to BC Public Service jobs postings. Please follow the application directions listed on the job posting.

What does the service include?

The service includes advice and guidance on:

  • Navigating the BC Public Service job opportunities web page
  • Setting up job search notifications for BC Public Service job positions
  • Techniques and best practices for tailoring resumes and cover letters to BC Public Service job postings
  • Completing comprehensive essay style questionnaires
  • Coaching on the BC Public Service job interview process, including mock interview conversations for behavioural event interviews.

This service aims to increase representation of Indigenous people in the BC Public Service to better reflect the diverse population we serve and promote career advancement within the public service.
