Learn how to build and maintain a safe and healthy workplace in the BC Public Service where employees feel respected, supported and engaged.

Supervisors play a key role in ensuring a healthy and safe workplace.

You must:

• Practice due diligence
• Be familiar with all employees' health and safety responsibilities under the Workers Compensation Act
• Understand the role of WorkSafeBC

To ensure safety program components are understood and implemented in your workplace:

• Establish what hazards exist and what training will help staff mitigate or work safely with those hazards. Review Hazard-specific plans and Bio-hazards, occupational diseases and hepatitis B
• Review safety training needs with employees that are familiar with the workplace and processes

Be aware of the supervisor and executive safety roles and responsibilities.
