The Government of B.C. is investing in student housing as part of Homes for BC, a 10-year housing plan with 8,000 new on-campus student beds to be built by 2028.
Through government loans and grants, and institutional self-financing, many student housing projects are completed or underway, providing students with more affordable housing options while they pursue public post-secondary education and skills training.
Students who choose to live in on-campus housing sign a student housing agreement during their stay. Through collaboration with student associations and public post-secondary institutions, a set of leading practices have been developed to assist institutions when creating or revising contracts and policies.
Please contact the Sector Business Partnerships team if you have questions about leading practices in on-campus student housing.
Public post-secondary institutions can contact the Capital Asset Management team for information on developing new on-campus student housing projects.
