We are committed to supporting people with disabilities to meaningfully participate in their communities.
To support this, the Government of B.C. has passed accessibility legislation.
There will be key actions in four different areas in years one through 10 of implementation.
We will focus on culture change throughout. It means an emphasis on:

Government will also release accessibility plans on a regular basis.
Government reports each year on progress and success. The first independent review will occur after 5 years.
Standards will be developed two at a time and will be implemented in a phased approach. As implementation begins for a standard, work will begin on developing the next one.
Effective September 1, 2022, over 750 public sector organizations will be required to establish an accessibility committee, an accessibility plan and a build tool to receive feedback on their accessibility.
