Dog and cat breeding consultation

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food consulted stakeholders in the commercial dog and cat breeding industry for input on:

• Required licensing and/or registration to operate as a breeder
• Possible proactive monitoring and enforcement of commercial cat and dog breeders

The purpose of the consultations was to gather stakeholder input to potential legislation that will assist the BC SPCA to monitor and take action against irresponsible breeders of dogs and cats.
