Land use - clean energy

Last updated on June 19, 2024

Due to B.C.’s climate and geography, the Province’s clean and renewable energy potential is diverse, vast and enviable. Clean Energy projects have the potential to generate energy that meets and balances economic, environmental and social concerns. Not only can power projects use water and wind to produce energy, they can also use biomass, waste wood, solar, tidal, wave, geothermal and other natural resources.

Further information on Crown land use for Clean Energy projects can be found on the following web pages. Please note that British Columbia does not currently have a specific Solar Energy policy. Until such a time as a Solar Power Land Use Policy or its equivalent is developed, the Wind Power policy is being used to guide solar power applications.
