The Blueberry River First Nations Implementation Agreement, signed in January 2023, mandated the requirement for a series of landscape-level high-value (HV) plans, which includes the HV1-C Gundy Complex Plan (the Gundy Plan).
The Gundy Plan establishes and implements actions to support the restoration and ongoing practice of Blueberry River First Nations' Treaty Rights and essential elements of their way of life like hunting, fishing, trapping and sacred site preservation, while enabling limited petroleum and natural gas (PNG) development under new rules and conditions.
The Gundy Plan sets out how the B.C. government and Blueberry River First Nations will move forward together to protect and restore high-value areas that are important to the Nations' traditional way of life and, at the same time, allow for a responsible approach toward new industrial development in the region.
