The Halfway River First Nation/B.C. Landscape Planning Pilot (LPP) builds on a Letter of Agreement signed in January 2023 to address cumulative effects and establish shared decision-making and co-management in Halfway River First Nation’s core territory.
The LPP pilots the operational implementation of a broader Halfway River Adaptive Management Program and Plan for petroleum and natural gas (PNG). The LPP will guide PNG development and Halfway River restoration priorities within two discrete areas:
The LPP sets out the mitigation requirements for PNG development and establishes how the B.C. government and Halfway River First Nation will work together to evaluate the LPP, pending future broader planning with Halfway River First Nation.
