In July 2022, Transport Canada introduced the Incentives for Medium- and Heavy-Duty Zero-Emission Vehicles (iMHZEV) Program to encourage the adoption of medium- and heavy-duty zero-emission vehicles (MHDZEVs) by Canadian businesses and non-profit organizations.
The iMHZEV rebates are determined based on the vehicle class (class 2B to class 8) and includes rebates of up to $200,000.
B.C. businesses and non-profit organizations looking to purchase or lease a new medium- or heavy duty zero emission vehicle are allowed to stack the federal iMHZEV rebates with provincial funding support from the CleanBC Go Electric Rebates program or the CleanBC Go Electric Commercial Vehicle Pilots (CVP) program.
For eligible vehicles, stacking of funding from the iMHZEV program and a Go Electric program is limited to 75% of the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP).
If the combined value of the federal and provincial/territorial rebate exceeds 75% of the MSRP limit, the respective Go Electric program will adjust the rebate amount to respect the stacking limit.
The stacking of provincial funding from the Go Electric Rebates Program with the CVP Program (for the same vehicles) is not permitted.
For example, applicants who receive funding for a vehicle through the CVP Program are not permitted to receive funding for a vehicle through the Go Electric Rebates Program.
To learn more about which program is best for you, visit the Go Electric Rebates and CVP websites to review the eligibility requirements.
