First Steps

If you think or know you have witnessed a crime, or are observing behavior that appears suspicious or against the law, first make sure you and your loved ones are safe. Then report the crime to the police. Your safety is your first priority.

You may want to ask someone else to report the crime while you continue to watch what is happening. To report a crime is taking place or is about to happen, call the police emergency line by dialing 911 as soon as you can.

In Case of an Emergency

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911 immediately. If your community does not have 911 services the local police emergency number can be found on the inside front cover of your phone book under 'Emergency Numbers'.

In other circumstances and when the call is not urgent, call your local police non-emergency line listed in your phone book.

DO NOT become involved in situations where violence is taking place - dial 911 immediately!
