Online emergency management training

Online emergency management training courses are in partnership with the Justice Institute of BC and are available to all eligible applicants in the province.

Applicant information

To be eligible to apply, you must be one of the following:

  • Group 1: Staff or volunteers of Indigenous community or local government Emergency Management Programs
  • Group 2: Emergency Support Services (ESS) responders of an Indigenous community or local government  
  • Group 3: If space is available, staff or volunteers of provincial ministry, regional/provincial organization, crown corporation, non-government organization, or other emergency management/response programs

And, based on what group you're in, you must have a recommendation from:

  • Group 1: Emergency Program Coordinator/Senior Public Official
  • Group 2: ESS Director
  • Group 3: Regional Manager or Emergency Management Training Specialist

Costs

Courses are provided at no cost to eligible participants who fill various roles during emergency and disaster response.

No-shows

If you don’t show up for a course, you may not be able to take future government sponsored courses. If you must withdraw from a course, please let us know well in advance of the start date.

Before you begin the application

Before you begin your application, here is what you need to know.

  1. Get a course recommendation based on what group you're in (see applicant information). You'll need: 
    • Contact details of the person who recommended the course
    • Proof you've completed any prerequisites
    • The name and date of the course you want to take. If you want to take more than one course:
      • The dates can't overlap, and
      • You must submit separate applications for each
    • To submit your application by the deadline
  2. When you complete the application, please save the receipt. 
  3. We'll review your application. If you're accepted into the course we'll register you and email you confirmation.
