In-person emergency management training

In-person emergency management training is coordinated annually by host communities. Opportunities for training are evenly distributed by region across the province.

Applicant information

To be eligible to apply, you must be one of the following:

  • Group 1: Staff or volunteers of Indigenous community or local government Emergency Management Programs
  • Group 2: Emergency Support Services (ESS) responders of an Indigenous community or local government  
  • Group 3: If space is available, staff or volunteers of provincial ministry, regional/provincial organization, crown corporation, non-government organization, or other emergency management/response programs

And, based on what group you're in, you must have a recommendation from:

  • Group 1: Emergency Program Coordinator/Senior Public Official
  • Group 2: ESS Director
  • Group 3: Provincial Regional Manager or Emergency Management Training Specialist

Number of attendees

Each course offering has a minimum of 15 seats and a maximum of 24.

Costs

Courses are provided at no cost to eligible participants who fill various roles during emergency and disaster response.

Travel expenses

Travel costs for students attending in-person courses are the responsibility of either the student or their organization.

No-shows

If you don’t show up for a course, you may not be able to take future sponsored courses. If you must withdraw from a course, please let us know well in advance of the start date.

In-person courses are hosted in communities around B.C. To apply to an in-person course from the list below, contact the appropriate regional office with the following information:

  • Emergency Program Coordinator/Manager’s Name
  • Confirmation of completed pre-requisites (if applicable, see course descriptions)
