In-person courses are offered on an annual basis, with courses being equally allotted across our 6 regions, and balanced with online courses.
A host community refers to any Indigenous community or local government. Applications for consideration in the following fiscal year (April to April) are open from the beginning of September to the middle of November.
Once applications are received, they are reviewed by the corresponding regional office and approved or denied based on criteria including:
Applications that aren't approved are encouraged to apply again the following year.
Applications are now closed.
The application form is only available in during the application period, usually between early September and mid-October.
Invitations are sent to Indigenous communities and local government contacts when the application window is open. A maximum of 2 courses may be requested per host community.
The expectation of the host community is that they provide the following at their own cost:
Additionally, host communities are encouraged to open their courses to their surrounding area’s emergency personnel, keeping in mind that there are a maximum of 24 seats per course.
