Food safety, traceability and sustainability are the cornerstones of our seafood sector and have earned British Columbia an international reputation for safe, reliable, top-quality seafood products.
British Columbia’s prime fishing grounds, world-famous salmon-rearing rivers, and pristine ocean farming areas produce a rich harvest of fish and seafood. Our seafood sector produces more than 100 different species of wild and farmed fish, shellfish and marine plants, which are shipped to markets across Asia, Europe and North America. Top exports include salmon, crab, shrimp, prawns, Geoduck clams, hake, herring, halibut, tuna, sea urchins, oysters, sablefish, clams, flounder and sea cucumbers.
