Pacific Salmon Industries Inc. (PSI) process and distribute wild seafood products from B.C.’s coastal waters.
The company offers a variety of seafood products for export, including: Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certified wild pacific salmon, in varieties such as sockeye, chum, pink, coho and chinook, available as whole round, headed and gutted or Individually Quick Frozen (IQF); wild pacific herring roe; wild pacific herring, as whole round, fillets, IQF or block frozen; wild pacific hake (also known as pacific whiting), as whole round, headed and gutted, IQF or block frozen; and Pacific Coast Rockfish and Groundfish.
All products are high in Omega-3 fatty acids and free of growth additives or antibiotics. Product safety is guaranteed by adhering to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) compliance guidelines, and PSI is currently working towards GFSI third-party certification.
Established in 1974 in Surrey, PSI was founded by Kojiro Sato, a Japanese immigrant to Canada. PSI was founded to support the processing needs of the B.C. fishing industry, primarily as a means to connect with the burgeoning Japanese market at the time. PSI believes that they are partners with the world’s ocean and marine life, as recognized by their MSC and Aquaculture Stewardship Council certifications. The company has also implemented a byproduct program that maximizes the value extracted from seafood.
