Project: Highway 16 Haida Gwaii Bridge Replacements – Replacement of Geikie Creek Bridges and Gold Creek Bridge
Location: Haida Gwaii
Assignment Contract Value: $400,000
Associated Engineering (B.C.) Ltd. provided construction supervision services for the replacement of the Highway 16 Gold Creek and Geikie Creek timber bridges.
The project’s scope included structural, geotechnical and hydrotechnical designs, construction engineering support, upgrades to the highway approaches and complex utility relocations.
Associated Engineering (B.C.) Ltd. worked closely with the Council of the Haida Nation and their Cultural/Heritage Observer, who was on site every day of the project. The team did an excellent job keeping the project managers informed and prioritized the quality, schedule and budget of the project. The new seismically resilient bridges improved road surfaces and enhanced safety features.
Project: Highway 7 - Harrison River Bridge – Pier 5 Timber Fender Renewal
Location: Agassiz
Assignment Contract Value: $145,000
Harrison River Bridge is a turn-table style movable bridge located on Highway 7, 38 kilometres east of Hope. The project included a scoping study, design and contract preparation and engineering support for the renewal of the deteriorated timber fender.
Mott MacDonald Canada Limited’s renewal of the timber fender minimized the environmental and economic impacts of the work. This successful project reduces risks for river users, promoting its continued importance to the regions’ commercial and recreational vibrancy.
