Forms Management & Design

Forms are integrally linked to most business processes within government. They are a basic business tool for communicating vital information to ensure things get done.

Well-designed forms fulfill business needs and act as a vital tool for government to complete essential processes.  The Province refers to the following definition from the Business Management Forms Association as to the definition of a form:

“A specialized, basic business document (whether printed or electronic) that contains fields for the collection, display and transmission of variable data. The presence of these fields differentiates a form from other types of documents. A form can serve as a catalyst that triggers action. A completed form serves as a record of what was done.” - (Essociates Group, Inc.)

Form Standards

Form standards provide general design guidelines and requirements for all ministry forms, whatever their specific function. These standards are meant to promote a common look and feel for all government forms, both to ensure that they are easy to read and use, and to facilitate their design and production.

The Inter-Ministry Forms Committee (IMFC) 

The Inter-Ministry Forms Committee (IMFC) is comprised of forms designers and administrators who develop policy and procedures around the design and management of government forms, including the government's form standards. The IMFC has representatives from across government and outside government to discuss issues, technologies, advancements, design standards and best practices in relation to government forms. They also provide mentoring, training opportunities and support around forms design technologies and management.
