Within B.C. government there are core supporting bodies to guide the internet strategy and ministries toward improved web services.
The OCIO creates Information Management and Information Technology (IM/IT) policies and strategies and are responsible for the creation and maintenance of IM/IT.
GCPE provides centralized communications management and services for all of government to ensure consistent user experiences. GCPE and Government Digital Experience (GDX) standards mandate the use of specific communication and engagement best practices. Ministries must follow these standards unless an exemption has been approved by the GCPE/GDX Joint Working Group (JWG).
Manages B.C. government public relations, campaigns and promotions.
Sets standards and manages requests for B.C. Government corporate branding.
Provide services to assist business areas within ministries to create consistent and user focused online information and tools.
DataBC encourages broad data sharing with the public and across government and can help you manage your data and can work with you to produce and manage and analyze data and geospatial data products.
The Joint Working Group consists of members representing all GCPE and GDX service areas who review web property applications measured against government priorities, branding, corporate standards, practices and technology requirements.
All government of B.C. digital services (including new web sites, web sites being substantially updated, domain names (new, renewals and transfers), simple URLs, WordPress, and applications) must submit an application to the JWG before beginning development.
In addition to cross government collaboration guiding the internet strategy these groups work closely with Service Design Delivery who help advise and shape the way services work for citizens.
Consists of representatives from all ministries to shape the direction and initiatives of B.C. government's online web properties.
The enhancements committee is coordinated by representatives from the IAC which define and promote the development of the corporate web product enhancements.
Consists of members represented from across all ministries with the view toward negotiating and approving metadata, navigational way finding and its governance for all web properties.
The working group is comprised of volunteer experts across government in the categorization and administration of metadata and taxonomy. It is responsible for providing, to the IAAG and greater web community, education, information and direction for government's metadata and taxonomy.
Consists of volunteer members who advise and shape writing and content standards for B.C. government information representation online.
