Many criminal sentences include court-ordered community supervision. Community supervision may be stand alone or follow a term of sentenced custody. BC Corrections supervises individuals serving sentences in the community.
Community supervision practices in B.C. are based on the evidence that they can change attitudes and behaviour and reduce reoffending. At the heart of case management in Community Corrections is a set of principles known as risk-need-responsivity:
