BC Corrections operates 10 correctional centres throughout the province that house an average of 1,800 individuals at secure, medium and open security levels:
Individuals may be awaiting trial or serving a custodial sentence of less than two years.
Correctional officers working in centres facilitate behavioural, educational and work programs to help change individuals’ thinking and behaviour and reduce reoffending.

The Investigations and Standards Office is an independent body of the Ministry of Attorney General. Its responsibilities include investigating complaints made by inmates at provincial correctional centres and probationers supervised in the community.
