1963: The Family and Children's Court Act

With the act’s emphasis on crime prevention, probation officers sought to solve family problems without judicial interference through the new Family and Children's Court of B.C. Family and Children’s Court committees were established in 1963 to better coordinate and assess the needs of the community.
