2002: Victoria Youth Custody Services (VYCS)

Victoria Youth Custody Services replaced the Victoria Youth Custody Centre (VYCC). For many years, VYCC had been overcrowded. It appeared to be institutionalized and cramped, lacked “outdoor green space” for outside activities and had no room for needed program expansion. In addition, after the closure of Lakeview, open custody living units were created at VYCS.
