Destination Development

Last updated on September 18, 2024

Destination development is guided by the Strategic Framework for Tourism in British Columbia and aims to help communities grow and manage their communities as tourism destinations. The focus is on enhancing the supply side of tourism, by providing compelling experiences, quality infrastructure, and remarkable services to entice repeat visitation.

Destination BC and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport, in partnership with Indigenous Tourism BC and the Regional Destination Management Organizations, are leading destination development planning across the province to support the ongoing viability of B.C.’s tourism sector. Across the province, nineteen 10-year destination development strategies have been created, along with regionally specific strategies. Destination development planning aims to establish B.C. as a world-class tourism destination which offers remarkable products and experiences that are authentic, driven by visitor demand, and exceed expectations.
