A travel supplement may be provided to an income or disability assistance recipient with developmental disabilities to assist with the cost of attending a self-help skill program or supported work-placement program approved by Community Living British Columbia (CLBC).
Eligibility

A travel supplement up to a maximum amount shown in Rate Table: General Supplements – Travel Supplement for each calendar month may be provided to assist an individual with a developmental disability receiving income assistance or disability assistance to attend a self-help skill program or supported work-placement program.
Eligibility for the travel supplement is determined by Community Living British Columbia (CLBC) and payments are provided by the ministry. It is intended to assist only recipients who meet both of the following conditions:
Appeals
Effective: June 23, 2006
The ministry provides payments for the travel supplement on CLBC’s behalf, therefore clients requesting to appeal a travel supplement should be directed to contact CLBC. Under the Employment and Assistance Regulation and the Employment and Assistance for Persons with Disabilities Regulation, this maximum amount is not open to appeal.
Assessing Eligibility for the Travel Supplement
Effective: February 3, 2011
To assess a recipient’s eligibility for the travel supplement, contact the recipient’s Community Living British Columbia (CLBC) Quality Service Analyst to verify that the individual is attending a CLBC-approved self-help skill program or supported work-placement program.
Review
Effective: December 1, 2003
The recipient’s continued eligibility for the travel supplement should be reviewed at least once a year. This could be done as part of the recipient’s regular eligibility review [see Related Links – Eligibility Review].
