Located in southeastern British Columbia, the Golden Timber Supply Area (TSA) straddles the Rocky Mountain Trench and upper Columbia River Valley northward to the Big Bend area near Mica Dam.
It is bounded on the west by the Selkirk and Purcell mountains and the Revelstoke TSA; on the north by the Robson Valley TSA; on the south by the Invermere TSA; and on the east by the Rocky Mountains and the province of Alberta.
Several parks border the TSA. They include Hamber Provincial Park and five national parks — Yoho, Banff, Jasper, Kootenay and Glacier. Cummins Provincial Park lies within it. The Golden TSA is administered by the Selkirk Natural Resource District.
The Golden TSA allowable annual cut (AAC) is 485,000 cubic metres as of June 3, 2010.
The Forest Act — Section 8 (3.1) allows the chief forester to postpone the AAC by up to 10 years if they finds that a new determination is unlikely to change the AAC significantly.
The Golden TSA stretches along the Alberta border in southeastern B.C.
