Highway 17 - Ravine Way Transit Project

Supporting faster and more reliable transit service, improving connectivity to other parts of the region and integrating with active transportation routes.

Traffic impacts

Night work will be required during highway lane closures, enabling the contractor to undertake work without causing daytime disruptions to the extensive vehicle traffic on Highway 17, Highway 1, and Carey Road.

Drivers can expect delays and are encouraged to:

The Highway 17/Ravine Way Transit and Active Transportation Infrastructure Improvements Project is progressing improvements to the Ravine Way area, between Highway 1 and Highway 17/Vernon Avenue. This project and area will play an important role in the future of the transit-oriented commitments recently made by the provincial government near Saanich’s Uptown district.

Project cost

Pending final design and approval to proceed.

Status

A construction contract has been the awarded to Windley Contracting. Work began in Jan 2024, with a targeted completion in the summer of 2025.

Public engagement

A community information session was held in Saanich in May 2024.
