Highway 7 Harris Road Artist Rendering

The proposed improvements to the Highway 7/Harris Road intersection in Pitt Meadows will facilitate a safer, more efficient road network, improving active transportation and enhancing the flow of local and regional traffic.

The proposed project design includes:

  • Improved local access to and from Highway 7 through a new signalized intersection couplet located on Harris Road, approximately 150 metres north of Highway 7 and on Highway 7, approximately 200 meters west of Harris Road
  • Enhanced traffic flow through coordinated intersection signals
  • A new, grade-separated pedestrian bridge over Highway 7 on the east side of Harris Road intersection
  • More active transportation choices, including a 4-metre-wide multi-use-pathway on the south side of Highway 7 between Allan Way and Harris Road

Project benefits

The Highway 7 at Harris Road intersection in Pitt Meadows is a busy commuter connection point. Congestion and travel delays occur regularly during peak hours and the intersection is a collision prone location. The Highway 7 at Harris Road Improvements Project will provide a present-day solution for safer, more effective travel for motorists, public transit, active transportation and goods movement along this segment of the highway. Specifically, the proposed improvements will:

  • Increase safety for drivers by shifting northbound and eastbound left turns to alternate locations with more capacity to reduce the likelihood of incidents at the intersection
  • Enhanced access to transit and connections for walking/cycling between provincial and municipal facilities
  • Reduce signal delay, highway congestion and improve travel times for motorists and transit
  • Accommodate future growth within Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge and enhance local/regional travel and goods movement
