This project will improve drainage and pavement conditions along Main Street between Mountain Highway and the new Phibbs Transit exchange in North Vancouver.

The project will involve:

  • Asphalt resurfacing and re-laning the intersection of Main Street and Mountain Highway
  • Addressing long standing drainage concerns through installation of a new storm sewer along the south side of Main Street

Project cost

$5.1 million fully funded by the Province of British Columbia.

Status

The project was awarded to BA Blacktop Infrastructure Inc. and construction got underway on August 12, 2024.

The project is approximately 70% complete with work to date focusing on critical safety upgrades to improve drainage, including 700 meters of new storm system that ties into the new Phibbs Transit Exchange drainage infrastructure. This work also includes decommissioning a 1200 mm diameter culvert that is at the end of its service life.

Drainage upgrades will be completed in early October 2024. Further consultation will occur before the project proceeds with paving and line marking changes, which are scheduled for spring 2025.
